If You Are In Immediate Danger, Call 911
Peace Place was created as a safe shelter to assist battered women and their children with rebuilding their lives, independently and free of abuse. Our services are confidential and free.
Our philosophy is simple—break the cycle of domestic violence. Every citizen of this country, by law and by human right, has the power and right to live a violence free life. All offenders should be held accountable for their actions and should be expected to change their life. Both adult and child victims shall have the right to safe shelter, nonjudgmental listening, quick and accessible services and choose their own direction in life.
Peace Place opened in June, 2000, and we are certified by the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) and partially funded. We are an emergency, short term 15 bed shelter. Since we opened, we have housed over 1200 women and their children. Our outreach advocate is available to meet with victims who do not need or want shelter but still require services.
We try to take a holistic approach when serving the victims. We recognize that domestic violence is usually not the only obstacle to independence and as such, we provide wrap-around services to answer these needs.
