Transitional Housing Program:
Domestic violence is one of the leading causes of homelessness for women and children. While safe housing can provide a pathway to freedom, there are many barriers that prevent survivors from obtaining or maintaining safe and affordable housing. Peace Place has four apartment style housing units and three houses in Barrow county. Transitional housing is offered for up to 12 months for qualified emergency shelter clients. The focus is on economic empowerment to move clients towards sustainability for independent and permanent housing, primarily geared toward living a life free from abuse. Since 2007, our transitional housing program has been made available to survivors as they make their first steps toward independent living. All survivors in our transitional housing programs receive services such as case management, individual and group sessions, safety planning, and life skills classes.
